Following the trend of cashless stores which initially became well-know with Amazon Go, both Alibaba and JD.Com have created their own versions.
Hema
Hema is Alibaba’s entry into what the company calls ‘New retail’. A supermarket that uses technology and data to provide a more seamless and more efficient shopping experience.

JD.ID X-Mart
JD.ID X uses AI, Facial Recognition and Heat Mapping to allow customers to shop seamlessly without cash.
Using the JD.ID app, customers are given a QR code which is matched to facial recognition giving them an ID to enter the store. Selling SKU’s including grocery, beauty and apparel, customers can literally walk out of the store wearing their new clothes.
