Burberry UK – From London with Love

Burberry’s short film Christmas commercial takes us on a “magical gifting journey” travelling through a world of “Britishness, heritage, music and weather”. 12 year old Romeo Beckham, who stars in the ad, was reportedly paid $84,000 for his days work.

Boots UK – ‘Because she’s special’

A big departure from previous campaigns such as ‘Here come the girls’, this year’s Boots Christmas ad features a nurse who has worked over Christmas returning home in the early hours of Boxing Day to be greeted by her family. The strapline is ‘Because she’s special’ and the retailer is running an associated #SpecialBecause campaign on social media to engage consumers.

Marks & Spencer UK – #Followthefairies

Marks & Spencer has revealed its Christmas ad, which is designed to give meaning to its ‘Magic & Sparkle’ seasonal strapline. The retailer has eschewed celebrities and created a campaign, including a big social media push, to make concrete the spirit of Christmas.

Very.co.uk – Step into Christmas in style

Following the theme of little people, Shop Direct has launched its £6.5m ‘Step into Christmas in style’ campaign for Very as sister brand Littlewoods debuts its pantomime-themed ad.

Littlewoods UK – The Littlewoods touch

Fairies feature again in Littlewoods’s Aladdin-themed ad featuring brand ambassador Myeene Klass as the genie and Christopher Biggins as the pantomime dame.

ALDI Australia – Specially Selected for the the perfect Aussie Christmas

This is ALDI Australia’s second major Christmas campaign. It celebrates all the great things about an Aussie Christmas through the eyes of a man named Johan who has returned to his small snow covered village Julbacken after a trip to Australia. He brings with him strange tales of a summer Christmas, many of which seem out of place to the somewhat skeptical villagers.

Tesco UK – Lights on

Tesco has opted for a light show, giant Santas and lots of sparkle in its Christmas campaign which aims to focus on the little things that help customers in the festive season. The grocer’s ‘Every Little Helps Make Christmas’ campaign features a brass band cover of Irene Cara’s ‘What a Feeling’. It shows customers going to great lengths to prepare for Christmas and Tesco staff helping them.
